We enjoy walking in Auckland and usually we head to one of Auckland’s beautiful beaches or stunning parks, but the city CBD is a great place to walk.

The CBD has tons of character with a huge variety of things to see, from heritage terraced shops & historical buildings to modern skyscrapers.
We came to the city on Sunday, mainly to see the Christmas window display at Smith and Caughey’s called “The Chaos Before Christmas”. The story and the animated puppets are adorable, a real treasure. I make a point of coming ever year and it is always a thrill. Read more about this beautiful window display here.
We parked in a side street off Karangahape Road and walked along K Rd to St Kevin’s Arcade. The arcade has steps leading through it to Myers Park which is a lovely walk. From here we walked to Smith and Caughey’s and spent some time at the window and also looking through the department store.
Then on to Commercial Bay for lunch of dumplings and sushi, a brief walk around Britomart and back up Queen Street to K Rd and eventually to the car, stopping for donuts and iced coffee on the way… a good 4-5 hours in total.
The following are photos of interesting buildings encountered on our walk as well as some night pics taken on a previous occasion.
