Sharing My Free Travel Packing List Spreadsheet: Stay Organised for Your Next Trip

If you’re like me and tend to drag your feet when it comes time to pack, this one’s for you! With our Sri Lanka trip coming up soon, I finally decided to get organised and created a simple Travel Packing Spreadsheet in Google Sheets. It’s free to download and makes the whole process much easier (and just that little bit more fun!).

How It Works

This spreadsheet is easy to use — no fancy formulas to worry about. Just click the link, add a copy to your own Google Drive, and start filling it in. You can also download it to your computer or phone if you prefer to work offline.

Once it’s open, follow these simple steps:

  1. Insert your destination, date, and trip duration.
  2. Choose the number of days you’re packing for and input it in the sheet.
  3. Don’t alter the grey shaded cells – they contain built-in formulas.
  4. Add your own items – clothing, toiletries, tech gear, whatever you need.
  5. Enter the quantity required beside each item.
  6. Tick the checkbox when an item is packed.
  7. Monitor your progress as you go — it’s quite satisfying!
  8. View at 75% zoom to see your full list neatly on the screen.

When the sheet opens, click “Make a copy” to save it to your own Google Drive. You can then edit and personalise it however you like.

File → Download → Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re heading away for a weekend or a few weeks overseas, a good packing list keeps you organised and calm. I hope this free spreadsheet helps make your next trip smoother — it is certainly helping me get started for Sri Lanka!
