A fabulous pastime while on holiday.
Did you know that crochet hooks are perfectly fine on board aircraft? I find that when I travel it’s great to have some project to pull out when waiting at the airport, when on the plane and also when at your destination…anywhere there is downtime.
I like to take a couple of hooks: my fave size 5mm and size 4.5mm. Plus I like to take a few balls of my fave cotton yarn Lily’s Sugar and Cream in just a few colours. I find that working with cotton in a tropical climate is far easier and more enjoyable than wool.
Might sound crazy, but I also like to pack a pattern book…nothing too heavy. Alternatively some photos of patterns because Internet while on the move is sketchy.
We are currently holidaying in Malaysia so the temp is 32°C and I am still getting used to it. These doily are quick and easy and brighten up a coffee table. Now they are finished I will leave them here for the family to enjoy.
I recall that on a holiday to India 4 years ago I did nothing but dishcloths which was lovely and relaxing during downtime and a pattern wasn’t needed, just lots of squares. Waiting for hubby who was out shopping, lux hotel room 20 stories up, overlooking Marine Parade in Mumbai, making a dishcloth, pure joy!
My previous half finished project, a crochet shrug cardigan in wool and acrylic blend is sitting at home (which is in the grip of winter)…will just have to wait! Hopefully I will get some use from it before the winter is over??
