Mosaic Henna Heart

This mosaic is loosely based on a henna design and suggests a type of mandala pattern. It is the kind of design that takes on it’s own momentum and it wanted more and more added to the radiating shape… but I had to stopped when the balance appeared to be aesthetic, even though it was calling for more.

I made this for an exhibition and used lots of techniques that I had already utilised for other pieces. You can see my practice prototype in the centre, top row.

This was exhibited at the Estuary Arts Centre in Orewa during an NZMA exhibition 2018.

Happily it went to a forever home after the exhibition.
