Mosaic Roses

This mosaic was made as a prototype for my pink mosaic mirror, just a small lead in to practise crafting the roses however it turned into a piece that stands okay on its own.

This was made straight onto a picture frame ie on the glass top and I think the most stunning feature is the red irridised stained glass that changes color as the light in the room changes.

All of the tesserae pieces that makeup the mosaic are hand cut with a pencil grip cutter and/or wheeled nippers so that means no machines were used. I like using this method, although it takes longer it is very rewarding.
